I don’t really listen to much radio, so I don’t get as worked up about the presenters as some people. One who does get on my nerves a bit is Chris Moyles though. He’s not a terrible radio presenter, but he’s not brilliant either. His “jokes” are often not funny (although the show has its moments when I listen) and the huge team he seems to have can be a bit confusing if you’re not a regular listener.

The main reason I’ve got a problem with Chris Moyles is his latest outburst about not being paid. I can understand that not being paid is annoying – and it’s not acceptable – but that doesn’t mean you should make it public. The vast majority of people listening to his show will not make anywhere near the kind of money he does, so it’s insensitive to complain about a couple of months pay and expect them to care.

I also think that the shoe has had its day. I remember listening years ago and there being certain features, and when I recently listened many of these are still part of the show. The jokes seem dated and worn, and the chat goes on for far too long. In the morning, I suspect most people mainly want to listen to some music on their way to work, not some people chatting (which is basically what the show consists of). Constantly referring to himself as the “saviour” of radio 1 doesn’t really help his image either.

I know that a lot of people like him, but surely there must be someone better for the mornings than Chris Moyles? I’ve heard that some other radio presenters have said its time for him to move on, and I completely agree with them. The show can’t last forever, and the BBC should know when it’s time to call it a day, otherwise it will continue to lose listeners which will ultimately end up on rival channels.
